How do I update the firmware on my charging station?

This page gives instructions on how to update the firmware of your Alfen charger.
New firmware versions are released on a regular basis.
New versions include improvements in the software and may introduce new features to the charging station.

Stay informed
If you want to be informed when a new firmware version is released, you can send an email to ace.salessupport@alfen.com.
You will then be added to the mailing list.

Update onsite using the Alfen ACE Service Installer
Use ACE Service Installer Setup.
This can be downloaded via alfen.com/downloads
Under "How do I receive login details for the ACE Service Installer configuration tool?" you can find information for requesting an account.

  1. Go to the 'General' tab in the ACE Service Installer.

  2. Click on 'Update firmware'.

  3. Choose the desired firmware version from the list and click on 'Start upload'.
Once the update has completed, the charging station will restart.

Remotely via a backoffice
When the charger is connected to a backoffice and is online, the firmware can be updated remotely.
During a remote update, the firmware file (.fwi for NG9XXX and .tfw for AHP) is sent to the charging station from an ftp server.
Most backoffice systems have this option and are able to send firmware updates to the charging station.
If you have any questions, please consult your back-office supplier.
