Configuring Plug & Charge Authorization On-Site via ACE Service Installer

Overview

"Plug & Charge" authorization allows a charging station to start a transaction automatically when a vehicle is connected, eliminating the need for a charge pass. This guide explains how to configure Plug & Charge authorization on-site using the ACE Service Installer.

Configuration Steps

  1. Access the Authorization Settings

    • Open the ACE Service Installer.
    • Navigate to the ‘Authorization’ tab.
    • In the left menu, select ‘Authorization’.
  2. Enable Plug & Charge Authorization

    • Set the Authorization Mode to ‘Plug & Charge’.
  3. Create a Plug & Charge ID

    • Enter a new Plug & Charge ID (must be a hexadecimal value: 0-9, A-F).
    • The ID can be based on the charging station’s object number or a custom hexadecimal identifier.
  4. Save the Configuration

    • Click ‘Save’ to apply the settings.

Important Notes

  • The Plug & Charge ID must be unique and formatted correctly (0-9, A-F).
  • If the ID is not valid, the charging station will not authorize transactions.
  • This method applies only to on-site configuration. For remote setup, refer to the remote configuration article that explains how to set up Plug & Charge via a Back Office.
  • Due to updated interpretations of “identifiable transactions,” Alfen’s Plug & Charge feature (without authentication) is no longer available on Eichrecht-compliant products.
