What is SSA (Secure Service Access)?

Overview
The Secure Service Access (SSA) code is a special type of password that is only used by Alfen engineers and Field Service Partners who provide service to the charging stations. It is a type of temporary password that is only created and becomes available once a service technician needs access to a charging station for service and maintenance purposes.

The SSA is also a last resort when the current password is lost and the PRC (Password Recovery Code) is not available. Alfen Field Service Partners can use the SSA to login and change the Customer Password.

How does it work?
For security reasons, the SSA-password only becomes available once Alfen Support actively confirms an on-site visit or received the charger in its repair facility. The service technician then uses the password to get access to the charging station to perform service and/or maintenance. Once the technician finishes the activities, the service ticket is closed and the password automatically disappears.

How to enable the feature of SSA
There is one important condition that needs to be met for accessing a charging station with a SSA code. The feature to use SSA needs to be enabled for the charging station and here are the several ways to make this happen:
  • During initially installing and configuration of the charging station.

  • After installation using the ACE Service Installer, see here for more information.

  • After installation by setting the Backoffice parameter ‘PW-AllowSSALogin’ to ‘True’.

  • When ordering the charging station(s), the customer can opt-in via the Alfen webshop to have SSA turned on for all their charging stations in that order.

IMPORTANT:
The owner is responsible for Passwords and providing controls to retrieve access. With SSA disabled, all options have run out. In worst case, the product is inaccessible for everybody. Hardware replacement is the only remaining solution…
