This step-by-step guide will help you checking or adjusting the IP-range of your laptop.

In order to configure your charging station with the ACE Service Installer, you connect your laptop to the charger by ethernet cable.
In some cases, it may occur that your laptop and the charger can not communicate, because they are not in the same IP-range. For instance, when the charger is configured to a fixed IP-address.

In that case, a pop-up is displayed in the ACE Service Installer:

Note that the charger is on its default IP address: 169.254.1.10
The laptop is using IP: 192.168.178.30

To enable communication between the charger and the laptop, the IP-range used by the laptop has to be changed to match the IP-range that is used by the charger.

The information below is an example based on Windows 10.
It might look different on your device.

Step-by-step procedure to change the IP-address on your laptop:
This guide provides step-by-step instructions for checking and adjusting the IP-settings of your laptops network interface.

  1. On your laptop, go to ‘Start’, and click the settings-icon;
    or or similar

  2. The Windows settings opens.

  3. Click on ‘Network & Internet’

  4. On the menu, click ‘Ethernet’

  5. A screen opens that shows the available networks.

  6. A screen opens that shows the available networks.

  7. Select the correct Ethernet adapter. It should show be connected and NOT showing a red cross.

  8. Click the 'EDIT' button on the IP assignment line

  9. A pop-up opens, click 'Manual'.

In case there is already an IP-address and subnet entered, please write down these information or save in Notepad for instance, you might need this later to restore your network-setting after using the ACE Service Installer.

  10. Click ‘IPv4’ and enter the IP and subnet mask.
Change the settings according to the IP-range of the charging station and click ‘OK’.

    Example:
the charger is on IP-address 169.254.1.10 (as we saw in the pop-up displayed in the ACE Service installer)
We now assign an IP-address in this same IP-range (169.254.1.x) for the laptop to use.
Do NOT use the IP-address that is used by the charger!
In the example below we have chosen IP-address 169.254.1.100

  11. Press 'SAVE' when finished

Note! If the above does not work, you may try using subnet mask settings 255.255.0.0.

If Wi-Fi is turned on on your computer, it can interfere with the IP settings.
Turn Wi-Fi off and see if the IP pop up is resolved, or follow the steps above.

You should now be able to communicate with the charger using the ACE Service Installer.
A restart of the ACE Service Installer may be needed.

Do not forget to revert your network settings back to the original settings if needed, as were present in step 9 after you have completed the configuration or troubleshooting.
