Smart Charging technology may sound like something from the future, but it’s already here. So, what is it exactly? In essence it’s nothing more than a directive that dictates when and how fast an electric vehicle will be charged. You simply connect your car to the charging station and smart technology will determine how much available power is being distributed to the connected charging stations.
 
 
Smart Charging Network Alfen
Alfen’s Smart Charging Network (SCN) is the most advanced charging station technology on the market. It operates as a social charging network, without “masters” and “slaves”. All charging stations align their charging speed among each other. For every socket used, the network decides how fast it can charge taking into account what the total power consumption is. To achieve this, all connected charging stations exchange data on the current charging capacity for all vehicles.
 
 
Total control over the network
While configured and functioning as a group, the charging stations remain individually approachable and controllable. This way you remain in control over the network. Drivers of an electric vehicle don’t have to worry about all of this, they just simply connect their car to the charging station.
 
 
Power capacity optimally distributed
There is no need to manually distribute the power to connected electric vehicles. With the Smart Charging Network, the available power capacity is evenly distributed among the users. Vehicle fully charged? The other connected vehicles will automatically be supplied with more power.

What do you need to implement a Smart Charging Network solution at your location?
The Smart Charging Network solution is part of our suite of product functionality add-ons. You can purchase it when ordering your charging stations. Of course it’s always possible to purchase this functionality afterwards through Alfen’s webshop. Once you receive confirmation of your purchase by Alfen, the new functionality can be unlocked and configured by the installer using the Service Installer Application or the MyEve app.
